Business Quest 2010 Winners

Posted on 23.04.10 by Chris

Chris Redshaw, director at Revolver Revolver, receiving his Business Quest Business Winner 2010 Award from Peter Gadsby.

Revolver Revolver won Business Quest 2010 in it’s inaugural year. The award started by Derby entrepreneur Peter Gadsby set out to find the brightest young business talent.

Peter Gadsby commented “I chose Revolver Revolver as the first Business Quest winner because the important thing for me was that a successful business could be helped to move onto the next level, with our help. Chris has been in business for a while and he needs to employ people so he can concentrate on developing the business.”

The judging panel for the award was made up of members from Derby’s most respected business community including Cooper Parry, Geldards, Marketing Derby and Ark Capital.

Chris Redshaw commented “It’s great to get some real recognition for all the hard work put in over the last 18months, winning this award gives me access to some of Derby’s most successful businesses and will really help us expand over the coming months and years, this is just the beginning”

Creative thinkers handed £20k help

A CREATIVE design and media company in Derby has won £20,000 of business help after winning a Dragon’s Den-style competition to find the city’s most promising entrepreneurs.

Revolver Revolver, based at Banks Mill Studios, has been named as the winner of Business Quest 2010.

The firm beat competition from six other local businesses to win the title.

Business Quest was organised by Derbyshire entrepreneur Peter Gadsby, in conjunction with the University of Derby.

It challenged Derby students and graduates to “pitch” their businesses to a panel of judges, with the winner receiving £20,000 of business support, such as rent-free premises or help with legal matters.

The pitches took place on Wednesday in front of the panel.

Christopher Redshaw, from Revolver Revolver, conducted his firm’s successful pitch.

He said: “I honestly didn’t think I’d win.

“My first move will be to organise my marketing materials and look at drawing up employment contracts.”

Preparing the ‘pitch’ of their lives

Saturday, March 06, 2010, Derby Telegraph

A DRAGON’S Den-style competition to find Derby’s most promising entrepreneurs is a step closer to announcing the winner of its £20,000 top prize.

Seven companies have made it to the finals of Business Quest 2010, a competition organised by Derbyshire entrepreneur Peter Gadsby, in conjunction with the University of Derby.

It challenges Derby students and graduates to “pitch” their businesses to a panel of judges that will include Mr Gadsby, who is stumping up the first prize himself.

The winner will get £20,000-worth of business support, which may include rent-free or discounted business premises, or help with legal matters.

Finalists for Business Quest 2010 are: Wild Horse Tai Chi, fashion company Run-Rabbit-Run, sports agency Daniel Alexander Associates, Paul Cummins Ceramics, arts firm Subism, Dusk 2 Dawn Magazine and design and media company Revolver Revolver.

They will make their pitches at Mr Gadsby’s Pride Park offices on Wednesday and the winner will be announced at a ceremony at Pride Park Stadium later in the day.

Christopher Redshaw, of Revolver Revolver, said: “The business has been steadily growing over the last 18 months and this is a perfect time to get support.

“Winning would enable me to expand the studio.”

Mr Gadsby said: “There has been a lot of interest in the competition.

“I’m looking forward to the way the competitors structure their pitches. Convincing other people of the value of your business idea is a big part of being a successful entrepreneur.”
